SUNDAY SCHOOL

Being a place for all age groups, Temple organizes Sunday School for children, teaching Dhamma, and YMBA syllabus as well. Sunday School is managed by Chief Monk of the Temple and supported by volunteer teachers. It is in operation since 2003 and gradually developing.

The teachings are anchored in Generosity (Dana) so they learn to be giving and not selfish persons; Moral Values (Sila) such as filial piety, honesty, loving kindness and compassion for sentient beings; and Meditation (Bhavana) to develop their concentration and mindfulness.

Many of the children from the Sunday school have benefited from the teachings and shown noticeable improvements in their conduct and interaction with others. Today, some of these school children have returned to teach and share how the Dhamma has benefited them personally with the students.

“The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend a personal God and avoid dogmas and theology. Covering both natural and spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual and a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs, it would be Buddhism.” – Albert Einstein

Sunday School is conducted in Library where children can learn safely without being disturbed by the visitors. Also the school schedule is in sync with Singapore Primary/Secondary Calendar to let them enjoy their holiday fully with family.

One of the parent shall be an Ordinary Member of Temple for his child to join Sunday School. Other than the membership fees of $24 per year, there is no school fee and no registration fee.
